Hannibal Regional Hospital and Hannibal Regional Medical Group were recently awarded funding from the Missouri Foundation for Health in the amount of $193,511 in support of their Rural Health Access Program.   Hannibal Regional Medical Group will be able to use these funds to develop the provision of specialty services in its designated rural health clinics in Canton, Monroe City and Shelbina. 

“Hannibal Regional Hospital has been providing primary care services to the communities of Canton, Monroe City and Shelbina for the past eighteen years.  With the formation of Hannibal Regional Medical Group in 2007, in addition to primary care, our organization has been able to continue to meet the community’s need for healthcare services by recruiting specialty physicians to Hannibal,” stated John C. Grossmeier, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hannibal Regional Hospital.  “The grant funds from the Missouri Foundation for Health will assist us in the expansion of specialty physician practices and offer more convenient care to patients seeking services at these rural health clinics.”

All three locations will be providing the specialty services of Cardiology, Allergy/Immunology, Podiatry and Mental Health.  In addition, the Monroe City location will have the capabilities to provide Optometry services with the expansion of the Vision Institute to that location.  Hannibal Regional Medical Group will introduce these new services to the rural communities by July 2010.
